Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever teammate disclosed the methods the rookie phenom employs to silence her detractors.
Clark’s debut season has been extraordinarily triumphant, with the No. 1 overall pick in April’s WNBA Draft significantly advancing the prominence of women’s basketball. Beyond setting records on the court, the former Iowa standout has catalyzed a surge in both viewership and attendance across the league.
Given the scale of her achievements, it’s no surprise that Clark faces substantial criticism. In a recent media interaction, Fever veteran guard Erica Wheeler shared insights into how Clark manages the intense scrutiny and how her teammates contribute to her resilience.
“We keep things lighthearted with Caitlin Clark; we never let things get too serious,” Wheeler explained. “I always tell people she’s genuinely a child at heart. Christie [Sides] and the coaching staff also foster an environment of enjoyment.
“While there are times when seriousness is required, most of the time, we focus on having fun. The external pressures may try to infiltrate our space, but we simply don’t let them.”
