Caitlin Clark, the standout guard for the Indiana Fever and a rising star in women’s basketball, has opted out of joining the inaugural season of the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league, set to launch in January 2025.
Despite co-founders Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier successfully recruiting many top WNBA talents, Clark’s decision leaves two “wild card” spots unfilled in the league’s roster of 36 players.
Clark’s impressive rookie season, where she averaged 19.2 points and led Indiana to its first playoff appearance since 2016, has kept her busy. While her Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull will participate, Clark is focusing on well-deserved downtime after a demanding year that included leading Iowa to a national championship. The Unrivaled league will kick off in Miami on January 17, promising an exciting season even without Clark’s participation.
