Kelsey Mitchell has been the cornerstone of the Indiana Fever for years, long before the emergence of Caitlin Clark. As the team’s primary scorer, Mitchell carried the offensive load, but since the addition of Clark, the dynamic duo has elevated the Fever’s backcourt to one of the league’s elite. Both players have delivered exceptional scoring performances throughout the season, culminating in a historic achievement for the franchise. Together, Mitchell and Clark shattered the Fever’s single-season scoring record, with Clark setting a new mark of 769 points in her rookie year, closely followed by Mitchell’s impressive 767 points in 2024.

Following the Fever’s announcement of this milestone, WNBA fans took to social media to celebrate the duo’s achievements. Fans praised the pair, with one calling them the “Splash sisters” destined for a deep playoff run, while others hailed them as the “best backcourt in the league.”

Throughout the 2024 season, both guards have been prolific scorers for the Fever. Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game, leading all rookies in scoring and topping the WNBA in assists. Mitchell matched Clark’s scoring average with 19.2 points per game, achieving a career-high on an efficient 46.8% shooting from the field and 40.2% from beyond the arc.

Their stellar play propelled the Fever to their first postseason appearance since 2016, finishing the season with a 20-20 record, their first 20-win season since 2015. Indiana is set to face the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the WNBA playoffs this Sunday.
