Paul Robinson, who left Birmingham City’s coaching staff for the second time last weekend, has indicated that he is available to return.

During the final eight games of the previous season, the former Blues defender was brought in as Gary Rowett’s regular assistant in his temporary position. Ultimately, Blues’ relegation meant that neither Birmingham nor the interim staff had a happy ending, but it doesn’t mean Robinson isn’t eager to continue his work.

Following his second departure from Birmingham City’s coaching staff over the weekend, Paul Robinson has made it clear that he is open to rejoining the team.
The former Blues defender was brought in as Gary Rowett’s regular assistant in his interim role during the last eight games of the previous campaign. Though neither Birmingham nor the interim staff had a good ending as a result of Blues’ relegation, Robinson is still keen to carry out his task.

Naturally, getting Mowbray back to 100% health as soon as possible is the top goal, and everyone sends their best wishes to the 60-year-old. With a crucial summer ahead of them, Birmingham must find a solution quickly if they are to have the best chance of returning directly from League One to the Championship.

Robinson is taking his time because he understands how tough and unusual the scenario is. Even though the 45-year-old is grieving the relegation as much as any other Bluenose, he has made the decision to openly express his desire to continue to be a part of the team’s future.

The main objective is obviously to get Mowbray back to 100% health as quickly as possible, and everyone wishes the 60-year-old well. Birmingham needs to come up with a rapid fix if they want to have the best chance of going straight from League One to the Championship over the pivotal summer ahead of them.

Posting to Instagram, Robinson said: “I’m sorry we weren’t able to do what we had hoped for this great club and it hurts. It’s been a tough year for everybody, especially for Tony who is a top manager and I really look forward to seeing him back on the Blues touchline very soon.

“Whilst it’s hard to understand right now, we have to trust that things happen for a reason. As always, I will take time to reflect on what I could have done differently in such a short space of time.

“I do believe that this club will come back bigger and stronger, the owners have outlined their ambitions, they have a plan and it’s exciting times for everyone involved. I would love to be part of that rebuild. I want to thank you all for your unwavering support, you brought the noise every time!”
