Arsenal Targets Crystal Palace Star Guehi for Summer Transfer

Arsenal are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window, as reported by The Times. This move could be part of Arsenal’s strategy to strengthen their defence, especially if Jakub Kiwior leaves the club. Kiwior has primarily been used as a backup centre-back and occasionally covers the left-back position.

Mikel Arteta’s team currently has William Saliba and Gabriel as their main centre-backs, with Ben White as an additional option. Despite these choices, Arsenal appears to be aiming for additional quality in the position to maintain competitiveness in the upcoming season.

Marc Guehi, who has proven to be a key player for Crystal Palace, has caught the attention of Arsenal, although Manchester United could be another potential contender for his signature. At 23 years old, Guehi has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top defenders since joining Palace from Chelsea three years ago. He has nine caps for the England national team and two years remaining on his contract. Crystal Palace is likely to demand around £55 million for his transfer.

Arsenal’s recent recruitment has been smart, and acquiring a quality centre-back like Guehi would further solidify their squad. Although their primary focus may be on acquiring a new striker, adding Guehi could be a significant boost to their defensive lineup.

While Crystal Palace might consider selling Guehi if the price is right, it would be a challenging loss for Oliver Glasner’s team, who has been instrumental in shaping the squad’s current form. If Guehi departs, Crystal Palace may need to strengthen their defence, especially since James Tomkins and Rob Holding are set to leave at the end of the summer when their contracts expire.
