Anthony Joshua informed talkSPORT that his upcoming bout is scheduled for either September 20 or 21 at Wembley Stadium in London.
AJ disclosed that there are four potential opponents on the shortlist, while Deontay Wilder versus Zhilei Zhang and Filip Hrgovic versus Daniel Dubois are slated for June 1 in Riyadh. The fighter who delivers the standout performance in those matches will likely become the leading contender.
It was previously anticipated that Saudi Arabia’s boxing authorities, led by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, were organizing a major event at Wembley in September. There had been speculation that AJ might be the main attraction, and Joshua himself has now verified this.
When asked about his return to the ring, Joshua assured talkSPORT’s Jon Jackson, ahead of the Formula E Monaco E-Prix, that he’ll be fully prepared once a date is confirmed.
Joshua stated, “This is what I’m being told. If that’s what they say, they normally back their word so let’s go with that.”
“Wembley, September 20 or 21,”
Joshua mentioned, discussing the plan outlined by HE Alalshikh.
Regarding his potential next opponent, Joshua elaborated on HE Alalshikh’s plan, stating, “On June 1 in Saudi Arabia, they’ve got the 5 vs 5 card.”
