Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s coach, addressed to the press following his team’s 4-0 victory over Granada in La Liga. When asked how he wanted to celebrate the title on Sunday at Cibeles, he simply replied, “More or less [like last year], with a cigar and my sunglasses.”
On Ancelotti on his “B” team playing well; he remarked that: sensations were positive because everyone participated, fought, demonstrated quality, and worked as a team. They were also pleased with Courtois and Militão’s progress. Everything was going good. The goal was to have the entire squad at full strength for Wembley, and he believed we would do it.
Ancelotti discusses Kylian Mbappé:
“It’s an issue that I don’t take into account at the moment. We have a lot of things to do: today we played and we can’t wait to celebrate tomorrow with the fans. And after that, a lot of games. Until 1 June, we are very clear about what we have to think about.”
Addressing Macron’s comment about Mbappe and the Olympics, he added; “I don’t know… pufff… I can’t comment on what the president of France says, I don’t have the right to do so.”
Ancelotti examines the future of Modrić and Kroos:
“Both of them are very excited to be able to contribute and prepare for the final. Your minds are exclusively focused on trying to win the fifteenth.”
Ancelotti considers if Courtois and Militão will play every game till the final:
“Let’s see, with Militão… we’ll see. Because coming off an injury like that and playing every three days can be complicated. We will evaluate him on Tuesday. If he recovers well, he will play. As for Thibaut, he needs to play.”
Ancelotti assesses Arda Güler’s potential:
“We don’t know yet, because he’s very young. But he’s showing fantastic talent, he’s very effective and he’s got a lot of speed. I don’t know what his ceiling is, it’s hard to say at this stage, but he has a natural talent and he’s doing very well.”
Ancelotti sends a message to Granada fans:
“That in sport you also have to look at defeat… and this has to be an opportunity to do better in the future. They have a big fan base and they will try everything to get back to the Primera next season. You will have the chance.”
Ancelotti about who has amazed him the most:
“Well… it’s difficult to say who has surprised me the most. Of those who have returned, Brahim has earned an important role, but I don’t want to forget Joselu or Fran García, who have arrived this year and have done really well. Fran in the initial period and the others, in terms of goals, have been fundamental to have this level at the moment.”
