Jordi van Stappershoef will remain with the Shots for the 24/25 season, we are happy to confirm! After joining at the start of the 23/24 preseason, the Dutch goalkeeper made 49 appearances for the Shots the previous season, quickly staking his claim for the starting shirt.
Jordi declared, “I’m really looking forward to play at the EBB again!” after agreeing to a new contract. “I’m really happy to sign for another year. Last season was great.”
“I’m going to strive for an even better season, and I have no doubt that all of the supporters and other participants will provide us with the incredible encouragement we received last season.”
“I understand most goalkeepers will generally be judged on how often he picks the ball out of his net,” Tommy Widdrington remarked.
But I must admit that my perspective differs from most others’, and I don’t think the ‘keeper’ alone should take the brunt of the blame for the great majority of goals given up—as was undoubtedly the case with Jordi last season.
“He performed at a very consistent level and did well to maintain his composure when he was exposed too easily and too frequently in certain games.”
“He obviously contributed to our shared league and cup victories, and after playing in more than 40 games, he set off an option to extend.
“Jordi knows there will be a lot more competition this season, especially with Pat (Nash), but we might not be done in that regard either!”
Jordi, congratulations! We are very happy to have you back!
