An 18-year-old from Limerick clinched the 100m backstroke title, adding to the 100m breaststroke victory she achieved earlier in the week.
On Wednesday night at the European Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Róisín Ní Riain of Ireland secured her second gold medal.
American Paralympic champion Gia Pergolini won the race S13 100m backstroke final in a time of 1:05:75, with Ní Riain taking gold as the first European to touch home in 1:06:96.
The 18-year-old from Limerick, who already won silver in the 100m butterfly on the opening day, claimed her second gold of the championships in the 100m breaststroke on day two, making it her third medal overall. She still has three events ahead of her.
Ní Riain will be back in the pool Thursday morning for her 400m freestyle heat, aiming to qualify for another final. Later in the evening, Irish swimmers Nicole Turner and Dearbhaile Brady will both compete in the 50m freestyle final.
