Charlie Woods continues to follow in the path of his legendary father Tiger by qualifying for his first USGA Championship.
Not only did the 15-year-old make the US Junior Amateur, but he led all qualifiers in scoring, finishing 1-under 71 at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida.

Among the winners of the prestigious USGA Championship is Wood’s father Tiger, who won the tournament a record three-straight times from 1991 to 1993 before going on to become a golfing and sporting icon.
Unlike Charlie though, he first qualified a year younger at 14, however, he didn’t win until the following year so his son could still match him.
Another similarity between the two is clearly their ambition, with Charlie making it obvious he wants to reach the top.
“The USGA means a lot to me,” he said. “I want to win USGA championships and hopefully one day the US Open.
“Putting was my biggest strength today. I made a lot of putts when I needed to.”
Woods senior and junior were recently spotted together at Pinehurst helping the latter prepare for the US Open, where he missed the cut.
The USGA Championship takes place from July 22 to July 28, at Oakland Hills in Detroit. Woods is one of 264 participants, with 64 advancing to match play.
