New Orleans was the center of attention this past weekend as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs faced off in Super Bowl LIX. The highly anticipated game brought with it a wave of events, activations, and fan experiences. Among them was Gatorade’s G-Lab activation, where WNBA star Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson took part in the festivities.
The G-Lab provided guests with an interactive look into Gatorade’s origins, blending technology, research from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), and athletic challenges designed to enhance performance. Clark tested her skills with depth perception goggles while guests participated in various activities, including football target practice, pass-catching, and endurance drills.
As one of the WNBA’s rising stars, Clark emphasized the bright future of women’s sports. “Women’s sports are just scratching the surface,” she said. “The future is very bright, and I’ve only been a part of it for a short time—so many amazing people have come before me. The sky is the limit, and that’s what’s so exciting.” She also shared her lifelong loyalty to the Chiefs and her excitement to see SZA perform at the halftime show.
Jefferson, meanwhile, impressed attendees with his signature one-handed catches. “It means a lot to be a part of this,” he said, reflecting on his return to his hometown for the Super Bowl. “Going to LSU and spending my whole life here, coming back home for the Super Bowl is something I was looking forward to.” He also shared his hopes for the halftime show, specifically anticipating Kendrick Lamar’s performance of “Not Like Us.”
The Eagles ultimately secured the Super Bowl LIX victory with a 40-22 win, celebrating by dousing coach Nick Sirianni with yellow (lemon-lime) Gatorade—an annual tradition in the game. Both Clark and Jefferson reminisced about their own experiences with the drink. Clark recalled drinking Gatorade after her childhood soccer practices, always choosing the blue flavor when it was her turn to bring snacks for the team. Jefferson, on the other hand, fondly remembered watching commercials featuring sports legends like Michael Jordan and LeBron James, who influenced his own career.
As green confetti covered the Caesars Superdome field, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy. With the Super Bowl behind them, Clark and Jefferson now turn their focus to their upcoming seasons—the WNBA tips off in May, while the NFL returns in September 2025.
