Jamie Shackleton is surely now coming to the end of his Leeds United career with a July exit seemingly inevitable.
The Whites academy alumnus began the season as a mainstay in Daniel Farke’s squad, playing midfield as well as stepping in at both full-back positions when there were no natural options.
However, Shackleton has found it more difficult to get consistent minutes as the season has gone on, and injuries have also caught up to him.
With Ethan Ampadu, a vital player of the team, moving to center-back in Pascal Struijk’s absence, Ilia Gruev, Archie Gray, and Glen Kamara have taken over the two defensive midfield positions. Sam Byram, Junior Firpo, Connor Roberts, and Gray have filled in at full-back.
Recent games have seen Shackleton miss out due to an adductor problem that has kept him out for weeks, while before that he was dealing with illness and the fact that his partner gave birth to their first child.
