Zayn Malik paid an emotional tribute to his former bandmate Liam Payne during the first night of his UK “Stairway to the Sky” tour in Leeds on November 23, 2024. In a heartfelt statement shared before the show, Malik expressed his grief, saying he “lost a brother” and deeply regretted not being able to say goodbye properly. He shared how Payne supported him during difficult times when they were younger, describing Liam as headstrong, compassionate, and a positive influence in his life​​​​.
Following Payne’s tragic passing in October, Malik postponed parts of his tour, including the U.S. leg, which will now resume in January 2025. He also rescheduled earlier UK shows to focus on grieving and honoring his late friend​​.
