Ruud van Nistelrooy may be making a swift return to English football, following his recent departure from Manchester United. After stepping down from his role as United’s interim manager—where he managed three wins and one draw in four games—reports suggest that Championship side Burnley could be interested in his services.
Van Nistelrooy had initially turned down Burnley during the summer, opting instead to join United’s coaching staff under Erik ten Hag. However, following Ten Hag’s exit and the arrival of Ruben Amorim as head coach, Van Nistelrooy also decided to leave the club. Burnley, who recently appointed Scott Parker, might reconsider Van Nistelrooy as an option if their struggles continue in the Championship.
During his brief interim stint at United, Van Nistelrooy’s performance raised his profile, leading some fans to hope he’d stay as part of Amorim’s staff. However, he departed along with assistants Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel, with United expressing gratitude for his contributions.
If Burnley’s form remains inconsistent, the club may reach out to Van Nistelrooy again, seeing him as a potential solution to their goal-scoring challenges.
