Cristiano Ronaldo has added another feather to his cap, receiving the prestigious Platinum Quinas Award from the Portuguese Football Federation at the Quinas De Ouro gala. The 39-year-old forward, who holds the record as the highest goal-scorer in international football with 133 goals in 216 caps, was celebrated for his extensive contributions to Portuguese football. Ronaldo’s career with the national team includes leading Portugal to the UEFA Euro 2016 victory and the inaugural UEFA Nations League title in 2019.
At the ceremony, attended by Portugal’s Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and FPF President Fernando Gomes, Ronaldo reflected on his journey with Portugal’s national team. From his debut at 18, he initially aspired to earn his first cap but went on to surpass 200 appearances, making him the most capped Portuguese player of all time. Ronaldo expressed gratitude for the award and acknowledged the progress of Portuguese football, lauding the infrastructure, coaching talent, and player potential under FPF President Fernando Gomes, whom he called the “best president we have ever had.”
In club football, Ronaldo remains prolific, recently contributing to Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League success with a goal in a 5-1 victory over Al-Ain. Al-Nassr currently ranks third in the Saudi Pro League, with Ronaldo, the league’s top scorer last season, already netting six goals this season.
