Argentina authorities are continuing their investigation into the missing £30,000 Rolex watch of Liam Payne, which has not yet been recovered. The search is part of a broader inquiry into the singer’s tragic death.
The luxury watch, a yellow-gold Rolex Day-Date 40 with a champagne dial, was seen in CCTV footage and photos taken shortly before Payne’s fatal fall on October 16. Authorities have confirmed that the watch was still on his wrist up to a few hours before his death, but it was not found during the initial raids conducted at the homes of three men who are being investigated. These men are under suspicion for abandoning Payne and for allegedly facilitating drug use.
According to La Nacion, the Buenos Aires hotel where Payne stayed, CasaSur Palermo, will undergo a second search to locate the missing Rolex. This new operation is expected to take place within the next 72 hours, with a focus on the deluxe suite where Payne was staying.
Initial investigations suggest that Payne wore the watch for at least two to three hours before his death. It was confirmed that he was seen with the watch on surveillance footage from the hotel, but despite extensive searches, the watch has yet to be found.
Investigators also revealed that Payne’s toxicology results showed traces of alcohol, cocaine, and an antidepressant in his system. They have ruled out suicide and suspect that Payne was in an unconscious or semi-conscious state when he fell.
The investigation has led to the naming of several individuals, including a hotel employee and two drug dealers, who are being questioned in connection with the supply of drugs to Payne in the days leading up to his death. One of the men under investigation is reported to have been a frequent companion of the singer during his stay in Buenos Aires.
Liam’s close friend, Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, has publicly defended his actions, claiming he never abandoned Payne and that he had left the hotel shortly before the tragic incident occurred. He emphasized the deep personal loss he felt following Payne’s passing.
Payne’s father, Geoff, traveled to Argentina after his son’s death and returned with his body to the UK, where funeral arrangements are being made in Payne’s hometown of Wolverhampton.
The search for the missing Rolex continues as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the sin
ger’s death unfolds.
