Woking FC man Signs new contract
Woking Football Club is delighted to announce that Dion Kelly-Evans has signed a new contract.
The versatile 27-year-old defender made 13 appearances for the club after joining in January and has become a fan favourite due to his harsh tackling and work ethic. Kelly-Evans, a Coventry City academy graduate, made 40 appearances for the Sky Blues over three seasons, the majority of which came in 2017/18.
He subsequently joined Kettering Town in August 2018, where he helped them win the Southern League Premier Central and was named Player of the Season, before joining Notts County in August 2019, where he made 97 appearances until leaving at the end of the 2021–2022 season.
After a brief stay at Boreham Wood, Kelly-Evans injured his collarbone in October 2022, leaving the club in August 2023 and joining Banbury in November 2023. Kelly-Evans established himself as a regular for the Puritans, starting ten consecutive games until Michael Doyle approached him about joining the Cardinals.
“I’m delighted to get Dion agreed for the upcoming season,” said Woking Manager Michael Doyle. “When Dion joined the club, our team’s form improved, and I thought he was one of our most significant players in the second part of the season. He fills so many positions, and I’m glad he’s decided to continue with us.”
He has demonstrated his versatility at the club by playing as a right-back, right wing-back, center defender, and midfielder.
“I loved my short stay, so I’ve returned for more,” Kelly-Evans remarked. “I’m hungry to build on from last season to become better whilst working harder to win and really kick on.” “You can see how the gaffer and Ben Turner improved this club’s philosophy, work ethic, and standards, resulting in our survival.
I’m all for that; it’s ideal for the way I play. “They bring the best out of me, and I enjoy playing for them,” Kelly-Evans remarked.
