
Myles Turner, the Indiana Pacers’ long-tenured center, reportedly aimed for a contract extension exceeding the value of the deal signed by Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid. According to multiple NBA insiders, Turner’s camp believed his production, experience, and value to Indiana warranted a salary that reflected his elevated role compared to Reid’s.
Naz Reid signed a three-year, $42 million extension with Minnesota in June 2023. The contract was widely seen as a bargain given Reid’s ability to stretch the floor, provide reliable bench scoring, and fill in admirably for either Karl-Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert. The deal also came with a player option and incentives, making it even more team-friendly. Reid’s performance during the 2023–24 season only solidified the view that Minnesota got excellent value.
Turner, on the other hand, is a more established player. The 28-year-old has consistently been among the league leaders in blocked shots and anchors the Pacers’ defense while also improving his offensive output in recent seasons. In 2022–23, he averaged a career-high 18.0 points per game while shooting efficiently from both the field and beyond the arc. Turner has also
