The Miami Hurricanes landed a major addition to their 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star defensive lineman Anthony Kennedy. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect announced his decision on Friday afternoon, choosing the Hurricanes over offers from several powerhouse programs, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, and Texas.
Kennedy, a standout from Grayson High School in Georgia, is ranked among the top 25 defensive linemen in the country and top 200 players overall, according to multiple recruiting services. Known for his explosive first step, relentless motor, and versatility along the defensive front, Kennedy has the tools to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level.
His commitment marks a significant recruiting win for head coach Mario Cristobal and defensive line coach Jason Taylor, who have prioritized building a dominant front seven as part of Miami’s resurgence in the ACC. Kennedy had been a high-priority target for the Hurricanes since the beginning of the cycle, and his multiple visits to Coral Gables over the past year—including an official visit earlier this month—helped seal the deal.
In his junior season, Kennedy racked up 63 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks, showcasing his ability to disrupt both the run and pass. His combination of strength, agility, and football IQ made him one of the most sought-after defensive prospects in the Southeast. Analysts have praised his technique and frame, with some projecting him to eventually grow into a 3-technique tackle in a 4-3 scheme or even line up as a strong-side end in certain packages.
Kennedy cited Miami’s coaching staff, development plan, and academic offerings as key factors in his decision. “The relationships I’ve built with Coach Cristobal and Coach Taylor were a big part of it,” Kennedy said in a statement following his announcement. “They believe in me, and I believe in what they’re building at Miami. I want to be part of something special.”
His pledge gives Miami yet another blue-chip commitment in a class that is quickly climbing the national rankings. The Hurricanes now hold commitments from multiple top-250 prospects and continue
