The Georgia Bulldogs continue to surge on the recruiting trail, and momentum may be swinging even further in their favor following the recent decision of five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell. Though Cantwell ultimately committed elsewhere, his recruitment has indirectly opened doors for Georgia to pursue and potentially land two of the most coveted offensive playmakers in the 2025 class.
With the Bulldogs’ coaching staff quickly pivoting their efforts after missing out on Cantwell, the program is now zeroing in on wide receiver Jalen Dupree and tight end Carter Franklin—both of whom are considered top-tier prospects with game-breaking potential.
Dupree, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver from Texas, has become one of the most explosive and dynamic athletes in the country. Known for his elite speed, sharp route running, and reliable hands, Dupree is the kind of playmaker that thrives in Georgia’s evolving offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. As the Bulldogs continue transitioning into a more balanced, explosive attack, a player like Dupree could be the missing link in elevating the passing game to new heights.
Georgia has long been in Dupree’s top five, but in recent weeks, the Bulldogs have gained serious traction with the wideout. According to sources close to the recruitment, Georgia’s player development track record and NFL pipeline have impressed Dupree and his family, especially after productive visits to Athens and extended conversations with head coach Kirby Smart and receivers coach Bryan McClendon. The buzz now is that Georgia could be in pole position to secure Dupree’s commitment before the summer is out.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are also trending with four-star tight end Carter Franklin, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound pass-catcher from Missouri who has been drawing comparisons to former Georgia great Brock Bowers. Franklin’s blend of size, speed, and catch radius makes him an ideal fit for Georgia’s tight end-heavy formations. With Bowers off to the NFL and Georgia looking to retool the tight end room, the opportunity for early playing time is enticing for Franklin.
Franklin had long been considered a lean toward Ohio State or Oklahoma, but the recent shift in Georgia’s recruiting board and their increased contact with Franklin have changed the dynamic. A
