Aberdeen comes to Kentucky after a successful three-year career with Florida, highlighted by a national championship win in the 2024–25 season. As a junior, he played in all 39 games, starting five, and contributed consistently with averages of 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. His value to the Gators was most evident during their title run, particularly in the national championship game against Houston, where he scored seven points and collected two rebounds to help secure a 65–63 victory.
Known for his three-level scoring and defensive versatility, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Aberdeen is a strong fit for Kentucky’s system under new head coach Mark Pope. “Denzel is a winner, in every sense of the word,” Pope said. “He has won at every level of basketball and that’s all that he talks about. Zel is a great young man who works for everything he earns. He’s a three-level scorer and a rangy defender who has tremendous length.”

The Wildcats have added several new faces this offseason, including top transfers like Jayden Quaintance from Arizona State and Mouhamed Dioubate from Alabama.
