Attention turns to the 2025 NFL draft for the Seattle Seahawks after signing Sam Darnold and dealing DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh.
Head coach Mike Macdonald and general manager John Schneider have had a memorable offseason by trading away two of their best offensive players. Quarterback Geno Smith is now a Las Vegas Raider, and All-Pro wide receiver Metcalf is a Steeler.
Seattle addressed the void at quarterback by adding the free agent Darnold after he put together a career year with the Minnesota Vikings last season. The question remains, however, about who will step up in place of Metcalf as the Seahawks’ top receiver alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The draft could be the answer here, as Seattle holds the No. 18 overall pick. According to a new mock draft from Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports, the Seahawks fill the void with University of Arizona wideout Tetairoa McMillan.
“The Seahawks need help along the offensive line, but with Tetairoa McMillan falling into their lap, they jump at the opportunity to add a big-bodied complement to breakout star Jaxon Smith-Njigba,” Stackpole wrote.
McMillan (6-foot-4, 219 pounds) is a big target with speed to burn. The consensus All-American posted 84 catches for 1,319 yards with eight touchdowns as a junior.
The former four-star recruit amassed 213 receptions for 3,423 yards and 26 touchdowns over 37 games as a Wildcat.
His knack for winning one-on-one matchups and finding the end zone could make up for the loss of Metcalf, who caught 48 touchdown passes over six seasons in Seattle.
